Additional Information for PIQF - ARTIFACT mlf NOV 14, 2008
In an attempt to streamline forms we are listing below information that applies to this show. You are responsible for reading this information and will be asked to initial the entry form to indicate that you agree with these rules and conditions. Show chairmen or any steer can be contacted for further explanation. Please let Marge Fox know of any items missing or incorrect as we implement this new method.
ORIGINAL WORK - Please go to this section of the website for additional help understanding what this means in AQuA. If you have questions, ask a steer for help.
PHOTOGRAPHER OTHER THAN ARRANGED BY AQUA – (For this show, works will be juried before photography. You can still choose to have your work photographed.) AQuA arranges a show photographer. As of this writing you get professional work, two views, normal and close up, on a CD for $20.00.
You may hire your own photographer or if you are able to create a professional result, shoot this work yourself. When you turn in your quilt you will also turn in a CD-Rom with two images as above. The digital image must be 300dpi minimum, with the image 4” by 6”, saved in jpeg.
Quality images have been a large part of AQuA’s success. Should your image not be of sufficient quality and get chosen for juror mention, your work may not get included with press releases or used for the exhibitions postcard or on the exhibition website page. Also, images of insufficient quality will not be used on the website, at the discretion of the web mistress.
SLAT – A labeled slat is required for photography. Please go here for a diagram and instructions.
SLEEVE – Please go here for the sleeve required.
LABEL - A cloth label must be sewn to the bottom left hand side of the quilt back. Include: Title, your name, address and telephone number. Do not cover your label; we will do that at turn in.
SHIPPING INFORMATION – Standard quilt works will go in a shared box. No packing materials are allowed so it is important that your work is sturdy and of materials that will not transfer to another’s work. The standard shipping container of the past few years is 36” x 30” x 5”. If your work fits within those dimensions it would not be folded. Otherwise, your work may be folded.
NONSTANDARD QUILT WORKS ALLOWED THIS SHOW – For this show AQuA will allow quilts with nonstandard backs. Mounted and framed (without glass) and stretched works will be allowed. Kathy Pfeufer will work on shipping everything that is non standard and you are responsible for contacting her about your work prior to turn in. GO HERE for further information.
KEEPERS OF THE GUIDELINES – Works will be checked and rejected if they do not meet requirements of the show.
JUROR – This show will be juried. Anyone whose work is juried out is notified by mail. The juror is asked to give feedback on works, though not all jurors agree to do this. At this writing the juror has not been chosen.
PET HAIR – Don’t forget to check your work (a lint roller works great) for pet hair and loose threads, etc.
