CALL FOR ENTRIES

“ARTIFACT”
PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL XVIII 2009
Santa Clara, CA - Exhibit dates Oct. 15-18, 2009
DUE DATE: August 22, 2009

THEME: Artifact – noun, a simple object such as a tool or ornament which shows human workmanship; a product of civilization; a product of artistic endeavor.
RULES AND REQUIREMENTS: Work must be ORIGINAL.

All entries must be at least 96" in perimeter length, (which is 24" x 4 sides) with a maximum of 200" perimeter length (which is 50" x 4 sides). This includes multi-part artwork, and irregularly shaped pieces. (Suggested minimum size along rectangular edges is 24", with a suggested maximum of about 50".)
*Entries cannot have been shown in any prior exhibit.
*Entries must have been made after August 2007.
*Diptychs and triptychs are acceptable providing their size, including space between the pieces, remains within size restrictions.
*Alternative hanging methods are acceptable (see Kathy Pfeufer for details).
On the website you will find important information regarding “original work”, slat and sleeve diagrams, label and shipping information. On the entry form you will be asked to initial that you have read and understand the information on the site.
ENTRY FEE: $15.00 non-refundable entry fee for each entry.
PHOTOGRAPHY: The photography fee is $20.00 for each quilt, which includes a full shot and one close-up. You will receive a CD with your quilt images. Refer to website for using another photographer.
SLEEVE: See website for hanging sleeve instructions.
SLAT: A slat is required with each entry. The slat, with holes drilled in each end, must extend beyond the end of the sleeve, but not beyond the edges of the quilt. Write your name and quilt name on the slat and it will be returned to you as it is needed for photography purposes only.
JURYING: All entries will be juried.
MEMBERS’ CHOICE: All members present at the August 22, 2009 AQuA meeting will be asked to vote for their one favorite as “Members’ Choice”. The piece selected will be featured on the AQuAfer Exhibition on our website.
The Keeper’s of Quilt Guideline Regulations for Shows will examine each quilt after submission. It is important to carefully review the guidelines above and on the website in order to meet the requirements for this competition.
