ANNOUNCING

"PICK OF THE LITTER II"

Once again, another wonderful opportunity to exhibit and sell our work has fallen into our lap and at no cost to us.  We must be living right!!

The Creamery Arts Center in Hotchkiss had two artists scheduled for the Peach Gallery in January, but they cancelled today.  AQuA has been offered the chance to exhibit our work at absolutely no cost to us.  Normally, we would have to pay $150 to mount a show, but because they have asked us to exhibit, the fee is waived.  Unfortunately, the time period for getting this show together is short, but we are asking only for existing AQuA member pieces with no restrictions.  Our Show is titled "Pick of the Litter II."

The Peach Gallery is located on the main floor of the Gallery and has approximately 56 feet of available hanging space.

So, here are the particulars.

  1. No entry fee
  2. No photography
  3. No size restrictions
  4. All pieces must be the original work of the entering member(s) (dual construction of a piece is fine, i.e., two-member collaboration.)
  5. A piece begun in a workshop is acceptable as long as it is not the teacher's pattern or any other commercial pattern.  However, the teacher and workshop name must be credited on the back.
  6. It must have a 4" or larger top sleeve.
  7. It must have a label on the back
  8. It must have a thin slat with your name and piece name written on it.  Drill holes in the ends large enough for several thicknesses of wire to pass through.
  9. Any piece you have made is acceptable, but, of course, a "Bridges" piece can't be shown (they will be on their way to the East Coast very soon.)
  10. We will also accept three dimensional pieces, i.e., felted, wearable art, art journals, etc.  We will have a riser in the middle of the Peach Room on which we can place these objects.  Please be sure these are labeled & identified.
  11. Your work does not have to be for sale, but since the Gallery is exhibiting us at no fee, we'd like to see them make some money.  They will take a 30% commission, so price your pieces accordingly.
  12. The opening reception will be Friday, January 4 from 6 to 8 pm.  We encourage as many of you as possible to attend.
  13. The pieces will actually be hung on Wednesday, January 2nd and will come down on Monday, January 28th .  All pieces not sold will be returned to you at the February AQuA meeting.
  14. If you enter a piece in this show, we would ask that you prepare a dish (finger food) for the opening reception.  If you are not planning on attending the opening, we will arrange to get these dishes transported to Hotchkiss somehow.  We will arrange that at a later date.
  15. All pieces must be delivered to Hi Fashion Fabrics any time prior to 3 pm, Thursday, December 27 th.
  16. The attached entry blank must accompany your entry.
  17. This show is not juried or judged.  However, Rita and Susan will be the final arbiters of what will or won't hang.  Should your piece not hang, please be assured that the reason will only be space or size limitations.  Don't take it personally, nor will it be a reflection of your fine work.  We will do our very best to see that everything submitted hangs.
  18. The entry blank is attached to this e-mail.
  19. It is our intention to move the Postcard Bin into the Peach Room to give viewers another month's opportunity to buy these little cuties.  If anyone absolutely has to have their unsold postcards back by the January AQuA meeting, please let me (Rita) know immediately and I will bring them to the January meeting.  However, if you agree that your postcards can stay, the return of your unsold postcards will be at the February AQuA meeting and any money you may have coming, will be sent/given to you as soon as possible.

Will you please e-mail me (Rita) at rff@bresnan.net to let me know how many pieces you will be submitting? I want to make sure that we have enough work to fill the Room.

Thank you!!
