Kathy Pfeufer

Sewing machines and fabric have been part of Kathy Pfeufer's life since she was in grade school. In 2002 she took one quilting class that used a "raw edge applique" quilting style for landscape quilting that let her directly combine art skills with sewing. Semi-retirement in Grand Junction has allowed Kathy to explore quilting as an art medium. Contact Kathy.

Rollercoasters

fabric postcards

2007

I have always been a rollercoaster fanatic. Funny, how some of your favorite things show up in your artwork!  Quilted postcards are so small, that when I drew this simple minded curve for a design, it wasn't too great a stretch for a rollercoaster fan to see some of my favorite old roller coasters in various guises, just waiting to be piped and stitched together.  These are only three of a "mini-series" of rollercoaster postcards.  They became a type of "quick sketch" in fabric for several techniques, fabric mixes, and styles, since they could be assembled much quicker than a large piece of fiber art.  Can you tell I was having lots of fun???  Kathy Pfeufer
