Angela Kenley

I consider myself a break-all-the-rules-quilter because  I'm always trying to find ways to put a little unexpected spin on the most basic design or pattern.  Whether it is a traditional quilt or an art piece I like to play with the composition of shapes and blocks of color, taking them to a more abstract form.   The tactile nature of using fabric for art enables me to experiment with light, color, texture, and movement as one might achieve with paint.  Since I have lived in western Colorado for many years my work is primarily influenced by the unique beauty of mesas, mountains, desert, and rock canyons.  I also often feature elements native to my home state of Texas or other locales that have impressed me in my travels.
