Deborah K. Snider

I am delighted to be a member of the Art Department faculty at Mesa State College. I hold a Master of Arts in Art Education and Studio, and a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts, teaching design and fabric/fibers classes, art teaching methods classes and arts management classes. Current artistic obsessions include mixed-media collage and fabric collage. I am fascinated by the mandala and frequently work in circular motifs. I love to tell stories in fabric by “fussy cutting” hundreds of images from commercial fabrics, and then juxtaposing them in unusual ways to recontextualize their meanings. I am working on two ongoing series of “Saints & Sweeties” and “Celtic Suite,” as well as enthusiastically participating in thematic projects through The Art Quilt Association. Oh, and I’m the drill sergeant for this year’s “Design Boot Camp” for AQuA…what fun!                                              January 2007
